Is there any way I can get rid of fleas on my cat?! HELP?

natural insecticides
scruge11 asked:

My cat just caught fleas. And I have an phobia to it. Are there any natural ways (forget insecticides, or shampoos) that I can eliminate the fleas and get rid of them. My cat lives outside, and is extremely furry. Help!

IS YOUR NEWF GELLIN'? Says:

Natural flea control= Fleas. They do not work. Pony up some $$ and get Advantage. It is safe and works very well. If you don’t gethtme under control, the cat will get tapewprms, and you will need another chemical to treat that.

And that cat is not any more furry than any other.

SaveThePits! Says:

Nope- none that work effectively anyway. Get your kitty some frontline from your vet and the problem will be taken care of in 24 hours.

alleella Says:

bring your cat to the vet and get a flea collar or powder

Newfie got it.

jdoggiep Says:

get a spray bottle and fill it with warm water and add a little bit of dish washing detergent like dawn or something. spray the cat thoroughly and then rinse. (warm soapy water will kill adult fleas but not the eggs.) this will not prevent them from coming back though.
i would suggest advantage from your vet though, i have looked for natural ways online and have had no luck.
cute pic!

KK Says:

The best way to kill the flea infestation is bathing him in dawn dish washing liquid. When you let the foam set on him for about 5 minutes it will suffocate the fleas.

I use Frontline or Advantage from the vet. It comes in a small tube that you squeeze on to the back of the neck. Pretty easy to use and safe.

mac's mom Says:

try flea dip at vet, flea collar, or the drops by zodiac.

dao Says:

Natural?? Get real. You need to take that Kitty to the vet & get some Frontline or something similar.

Fleas will weaken kitty’s immune system and leave the cat more vulnerable to infection and viruses, not to mention the poor cat will be extremely itchy. Cats can also develop a flea allergy and will then have a compounded problem of inflamed skin, weakened immune system, and the buggers.

If the cat has been in your house, or you have been near the cat and then inside your house will need to be treated with INSECTICIDE to remove the fleas inside the house as well. The fleas could have travelled on your clothing to the home.

Fleas are a pain in the a**, but one month of Frontline, vacuuming like crazy all carpets etc, they can be gotten rid of quite easily.

Emmalyz Says:

Dawn dish soap bath temporarily kills them. But, the come back. 0_o

Just ask your vet for a monthly direct apply flea med.
